Welcome to Bryher Court Nursing Home

Who We Are

About us....

Bryher Court Nursing Home is a handsome Edwardian house set in a lovely residential area of St Leonards, Hastings in East Sussex.  Privately owned and managed by local people. We are not part of a large, impersonal group of homes. Our Management team have a wealth of knowledge when it comes to taking care of our residents’ needs.

Our Manager has over 25 years of experience in Nursing Homes,  she oversees our team of around 60 nursing and auxilliary staff. They have collectively helped Bryher Court achieve “GOOD” from the Care Quality Commission in the category of Caring.  It takes a long time to build a good team and we have staff who have been with us for many years and would not dream of working anywhere else.

The management of Bryher Court Nursing Home is committed to delivering the highest possible standards of nursing care to all our residents in a pleasant homely environment covering many conditions and needs. We provide good traditional food along with support and encouragement to maintain independence as long as possible.

We are here to help and will welcome the opportunity of discussing any questions you may have about what we do and who our service is aimed at assisting.

Philosophy of Care

Bryher Court is a family-owned business where 3 generations of people support a highly skilled team with the aim to provide its members with a secure, relaxed, and homely environment in which their care, wellbeing and comfort is of prime importance.  Being a one home only organization allow us to be truly person centred and adapt our routine and practices to the preferences of our residents.

Staff will strive to preserve and maintain the dignity, individuality and privacy of all residents within a warm and caring atmosphere, and in so doing will be sensitive to their ever-changing needs.  Such needs may be medical/therapeutic (for physical and mental welfare), cultural, psychological, spiritual, emotional and social, and service users are encouraged to participate in the development of the individualised Plan of Care in which the involvement of family and friends may be appropriate and is greatly valued.

This will be achieved through programmes of activities designed to encourage mental alertness, self-esteem, social interaction with other service users and with recognition of the following core values of care which are fundamental to the Philosophy of our home.

CORE VALUES OF CARE

Privacy                             Dignity                         Rights

Independence                     Choice                        Fulfilment

Security                              Respect                       Equality

All care staff within the home will be appropriately qualified to deliver the highest standards of care.  A continuous staff training programme is implemented to ensure that these high standards are maintained in line with the latest initiatives and developments in care practices as may be laid down in appropriate legislation, regulations and the CQC guidelines.

Nutritional and Dietary Requirements

Meals are always a high point of each day. We offer a wide range of traditional Food, with special themed dining from around the world. A full range of meals is available from our well-equipped kitchen and suggestions are always welcome. Good food is important to health.

We use quality ingredients such as local fresh vegetables, free range eggs and locally caught fresh fish. We have been using the same local butcher for over 20 years.

Our cooks know how to prepare tasty nutritious meals from scratch and their food is well liked by our residents – and quite a few visitors and staff! We do not serve premade dinners that are simply reheated in the home!

Special dietary requirements are catered for. Meals are available for visitors on request. There is always a choice for every meal. The menu is simply a suggestion – patients can order alternative meals if they wish.
